This weekend has been a sad one for the US as two mass shootings left 29 people dead and dozens injured…

The first shooting was on Saturday in El Paso, Texas which is near the border of Mexico. The second was in the early hours of Sunday in Ohio.

Police said the suspect lived in Allen, Dallas, which is about 650 miles from El Paso. Police were on the scene in six minutes of the incident being reported.

El Paso police chief, Greg Allen, said: “Right now we have a manifesto from this individual, that indicates to some degree, it has a nexus to potential hate crime,”.

Allen also said the suspect had driven the nine hour journey to do the attack and he has been named as Patrick Crusius. An El Paso police spokesperson, Robert Gomez, estimated there were up to 3000 customers and 100 staff in the store at the time of the shooting.

In Ohio, the second US shooting broke out just after 1 am local time. The shooting took place near a bar in Dayton, Ohio and nine people were killed in the attack.
