Sir Kim Darroch Tossed Under The Bus By Boris Johnson
The UK ambassador to the US, Sir Kim Darroch has been forced to resign after UK PM-elect Boris Johnson refused to give him any support in the final Tory leadership debate on Tuesday. This left his position untenable and as Europe Minister Sir Alan Duncan stated:
“He’s basically thrown this fantastic diplomat under a bus to serve his own personal interests,”
London Bus of the type that Sir Kim Darroch was proverbially thrown under by our self serving PM elect.

All this comes after the Mail published some supposedly private communications which pointed out what is public knowledge anyway, that the Trump administration is to an even a casual observer displaying high levels of dysfunction with even members of his own party often siding with the opposition in the Senate.
This has led to President Trump refusing to deal with Sir Kim and resorting to petty insults and personal attacks on Twitter.

Now, Boris Johnson’s obvious self-serving character flaws are well known but this seems a step too far and when asked, why he was not more supportive of Sir Kim, his answer, was “it’s wrong to drag civil servants into the political arena”. However, given the inextricable link between government and its ambassadors, this looks like a cop-out.
