President Trump has finally decided to disavow – well as close to disavowing as we are likely to get from him, the conduct of his supporters towards Somali-born Congress Woman Ilhan Omar. The incident occurred at a campaign rally in North Carolina when after President Trump goadingly named Ilhan Omar in a move which led to the crowd chanting “send her back”.

The actions of his supporters have been widely condemned and despite his smug expression which can be seen in the BBC video below he has probably realised he has overstepped the mark on this one.
However, to add balance Congress Woman Omar is not without controversy having come out and apologised (sort of) for her twitter tirade from February where she suggested that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac) was buying influence for pro-Israel policies. Comments which were deemed by many to be Anti-Semitic.
Unbelievable.
Ilhan Omar says she doesn’t regret her anti-Semitic remarks (for which she already “apologized”) and says she doesn’t think what she said (“all about the Benjamin’s,” “evil” Israel “hypnotizing the world”) was anti-Semiticpic.twitter.com/ucItafbXor
