The egg that became the most liked photo on Instagram has an important message

It’s been revealed that the picture of an egg which became Instagram’s most liked photo is part of a mental health awareness campaign. The egg, Eugene, has now cracked after feeling the pressure of all the attention it’s received. The message by the account was to advise people to seek help if they feel the same way. More than 52 million people have liked the original picture, which was posted in January. When the first image of the egg appeared on the site it overtook Kylie Jenner and became the most liked photo.

Six pictures of the egg were released with varying levels of damage, the account is called @world_record_egg

The caption on the latest post reads:  “Phew! I feel so much better now. If you’re feeling the pressure, visit talkingegg.info to find out more. Let’s build this list together.”

This link leads to a website featuring a list of countries and mental health services available to people in every country. The aim of the Public Service Announcement (PSA) was continue to grow the list.

The first message on the account said: “Let’s set a world record together and get the most-liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this,”

The photo by Kylie Jenner was of her newborn daughter, Stormi, it only took nine days for the record to be broken.

Chris Godfrey, the advertising creative, behind the images said: “”An egg has no gender, race or religion. An egg is an egg, it’s universal.”
