Secretary Robert Jenrick has said that reopening schools in September is an “absolute priority” as it will be safe for teachers and pupils, the reason for the urgency is because Mr. Jenrick mentioned that “We have to get children back into school in September”.

The start of next term schools in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all due to open to start educating the children.

The schools closed in March with making the exceptions of the key worker’s children, but some were lucky enough to reopen to certain year groups before the summer holiday began, however many unions have raised query’s over the new plans to start reopening schools after Chris Whitty the chief medical officer of England cautioned the country that it is “near the limit” for opening society back up.

At the beginning of the weekend, the government were advised by two scientists that if schools were to reopen they would have to open with restrictions in place so the pupils were allowed back into classrooms following the social distancing guidelines, this seems like it would be very tough as Mr. Jenrick said it was “so important” that the pupils have face-to-face contact with their teachers.

Mr. Jenrick made a public announcement saying “We’re working very closely with headteachers and the teaching unions to make sure that all the steps necessary are put in place over the summer so that the children can go back in September and it is an absolute priority for the government”. He also believes that schools will most definitely be safe in September!

The National Education Union issued a statement saying that the Government will need to monitor the situation nationally and be extremely transparent and considerate of the bigger picture of the schools.

Boris Johnson has pledged in previous months that both Primary and Secondary schools in England will return in September with all classes being fully attended.

For Northern Ireland and Wales, the school term will also begin in September but as the school term starts a month earlier Wales will be starting their school term in August.

Unfortunately for the pub businesses and other activities they may need to close to allow schools to reopen, as Education is the Government’s main priority for September this was brought up by The chairman of the Scientific Advisory Group for emergencies, Graham Medley.
