Covid-19 once again has reached a peak status in the UK, after almost 3 years of trying to prevent everyone from getting Covid-19, everyone is now managing to get it with a reported one in 13 people in the UK having it, with estimates rising above 4.9 million cases in the UK.
ONS officials say that this is the highest number of cases seen since the beginning of the Pandemic and the most noticeable since the end of April 2020.
The surge of cases more than likely occurred when the variant known as Omicron entered the UK and with PM Boris Johnson ending all restrictions, it was bound to reach an all-time high.
Since ending all restrictions in the UK, the rise in Covid-19 cases was going to happen, however, the number of cases going to hospital has risen too, meaning that the NHS staff could be getting overwhelmed due to the number of cases they might be facing.
With this new era of Covid-19, what could possibly happen? Covid-19 hasn’t been this high since PM Boris Johnson put everyone into lockdown, however, reports say they are avoiding this at all costs. Kara Steel, the Senior Statistician for Covid-19 infections said this;
“Infection levels remain high, with the highest levels recorded in our survey seen in England and Wales and notable increases among older age groups.”
