Malaysia Police are analysing fingerprints which have been found in a forest resort cottage where a 15-year-old London girl has been reported missing. Officers have said they are not going to rule out a possible crime element.

Nora Quoirin vanished from the Dusun eco-resort in southern Negeri Sembilan on Sunday. The teenager’s family had discovered she was missing from her bedroom and now believe she has been abducted after finding a window in her room wide open. Nora Quoirin has special needs and is ‘very vulnerable’. Her grandfather has described the situation as “extremely mysterious”.

Several fingerprints have been found on the window ledge of Nora’s room and statements have now been taken by 20 individuals.

The search has now entered its fourth day and there is over 200 people searching for the teen in the local area including the forest the resort sits next too.

State deputy police chief SAC Che Zakaria Othman said: “We have not ruled out anything and we are probing it as a case of a missing person.”

Nora’s grandfather Sylvain Quoirin told AFP news agency: “In the morning, the window was open and she had disappeared.

“After an 18-hour flight and a seven-hour time difference you would sleep soundly and not go for a stroll at night.”

He said Nora would “absolutely not” run off.

“This is a young girl with a mild handicap who is rather timid, reserved. She is someone very fearful.”

In a statement on Tuesday, the family said: “Nora’s family believe she has been abducted. We are especially worried because Nora has learning and developmental disabilities and is not like other 15-year-olds. She looks younger, she is not capable of taking care of herself and she won’t understand what is going on. She never goes anywhere by herself. We have no reason to believe she wandered off and is lost.”

Since Nora’s disappearance may guests have cancelled their bookings and the resort has provided a full refund, access to the resort has been blocked due to the search operation.
