A post mortem has revealed the vulnerable  15-year-old had died from internal bleeding most likely caused by hunger and stress. Malaysia police have said there is no belief she was a victim of foul play.

Nora was named vulnerable after being born with holoprosencephaly, a disorder which affects brain development. Her Irish-French parents did not believe she had wandered off and had fears she was abducted.

Negeri Sembilan state police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop, said: “For the time being, there is no element of abduction or kidnapping.

“The cause of death was upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to duodenal ulcer, complicated with perforation.”

There will be further analysis that will be carried out on samples taken from her body and Nora’s family will now be allowed to take her home.

The 15-year-old went missing whilst on a family holiday at the jungle resort of Dasun, near Seremban. On the morning of August 4th she was discovered missing from her room and a big search started to find her. In a statement the family thanked all of the 350 people who help search for Nora in the jungle beside the resort.

Her parents Meabh and Sebastien Quoirin said in a statement: “Nora is at the heart of our family.

“She is the truest, most precious girl and we love her infinitely.

“The cruelty of her being taken away is unbearable. Our hearts are broken.

“We will always love our Nora.”

The president of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, said: “On behalf of the people of Ireland, I would also like to express my gratitude for the assistance given by the Malaysian authorities in the search for Nora, for the volunteers who answered the call to join the search and for all those throughout Malaysia, Ireland, Britain and France who offered what support they could.”

The French foreign office said: “We have learned with great sadness of the passing of the young Nora Quoirin in Malaysia.”
