The 15-year-old went missing whilst on a family holiday at the jungle resort of Dasun, near Seremban. On the morning of August 4th she was discovered missing from her room and a big search started to find her. In a statement the family thanked all of the 350 people who help search for Nora in the jungle beside the resort.

Sadly, her body was found on August 13th, 1.2 miles from the resort. Her parents identified the body and it has been confirmed to be Nora. Malaysia’s deputy police chief Mazlan Mansor said Nora’s body was found by a stream in a “quite hilly” area of plants, and was “not in any clothing”.

Her parents Meabh and Sebastien Quoirin said in a statement: “Nora is at the heart of our family.

“She is the truest, most precious girl and we love her infinitely.

“The cruelty of her being taken away is unbearable. Our hearts are broken.

“We will always love our Nora.”

The family’s lawyer, Sankara Naire, said the post mortem to find the cause of death will take place today, August 14th.

He added: “The family and I wish to express our greatest gratitude to the police and all the authorities involved in this search.

“It is a highly traumatic situation. It’s the loss of a daughter and child and naturally traumatic levels are very high.”

He added: “I think they are still pondering on the next course of action, because they are so overcome by grief and I think it is not in their mind yet.”

Nora’s parents are a French-Irish couple who have lived in London for 20 years. Nora was travelling with an Irish passport for this holiday.

The president of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, said: “On behalf of the people of Ireland, I would also like to express my gratitude for the assistance given by the Malaysian authorities in the search for Nora, for the volunteers who answered the call to join the search and for all those throughout Malaysia, Ireland, Britain and France who offered what support they could.”

The French foreign office said: “We have learned with great sadness of the passing of the young Nora Quoirin in Malaysia.”
