Police searching for missing Hull student have confirmed a body has been recovered from the Humber estuary and is a woman.

Post-mortem tests on the body will take place is expected to last the rest of the day. Humberside Police said there has been no formal identification but “have been in contact and informed those that needed to be made aware of the recovery”.

Libby Squire, 21, was last seen on February 1st, following a night out in Hull. Libby Squire was believed to have been dropped off in a taxi from The Welly nightclub to her student home on Wellesley Avenue at about 23:30. She did not enter the house but her phone was found there. She was spotted on CCTV 10 minutes later near a bench on Beverley Road, by the junction with Haworth Street, where a motorist stopped to offer her help. The philosophy student is believed to have remained in the area until about 00:09. She is later reported missing and officers begin a search.

Hundreds of uniformed officers and around 50 detectives have been searching four hours and days for Libby Squire with specialist search advisors, underwater officers, the fire service, police dogs, local businesses and the public also involved.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on the suspicion of abduction and still remains a person of interest. Pawel Relowicz, of Raglan Street, Hull, is remanded in custody on unrelated charges of burglary, voyeurism, outraging public decency and receiving stolen goods.

Ms Squire, who is 5ft 7in tall and has long dark brown hair, was wearing a black leather jacket, black long-sleeved top and a black denim skirt with lace when she was last seen.
