Lockdown right now is hard for a lot of us, a lot of people cant see their friends and or loved ones and cant do daily activities as they would normally, however, the UK have started to see lockdown ease over time and has seen a lot of changes from 3 to 4 months ago, however, Boris Johnson introduced local lockdown. This means that they will lockdown an area in the UK if the cases there seem to rise far to much and lock it down until the spread begins to slow down. Making it easy to contain the virus and easier to stop the spread from happening. Leicester is one of the first places to see this lockdown happen.

Covid-19 has risen in Leicester and they have decided to lock them down due to the number of cases coming from there. With this said, pubs and everything else set to open on the 4th of July will now stay closed in Leicester until the cases start slowly going downhill. Non-essential shops will close on Tuesday and some schools may close on Thursday because of the rise in Covid-19 cases. “10% of all positive cases in the country over the past week”. said, Matt Hancock. This means that 944 positive tests were recorded in Leicester in just 2 weeks, therefore they have locked them down.

“We recommend to people in Leicester, stay at home as much as you can, and we recommend against all but essential travel to, from and within Leicester.” Said the health secretary in the House of Commons on Monday! This could also be seen as a test, to see if the UK’s local lockdown system will work. This is the first time they have lockdown a place in the UK and this won’t be the first time either!
