Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the convicted Mexican Drug Baron has had his request for Outdoor recreational access denied by a US Judge due to fears that his request is a ruse to enable an escape attempt. Ordinarily, this would sound a bit extreme, however, given that Guzman has already escaped from two maximum security prisons in Mexico, and the fact that the exercise area is on a roof where there was an attempted escape back in the 1980s, this may have some merit.
His lawyers have appealed on the basis that he is being subject to cruel & unusual punishment, however, given he is responsible for a litany of crimes including countless murders and allegedly rape, it’s hard to feel too much sympathy for him.
