Five male suspects are wanted for the murder of Jaden Moodie who was rammed off his moped and stabbed.

Met Police

The teenager was hit by a vehicle whilst on a moped and then was stabbed to death in what is believed to be a targeted attack. He was found wounded in Bickley Road, Leyton, Waltham Forest and declared dead by paramedics on Tuesday 8th January 2019 at 19:00 GMT.

The vehicle was a black Mercedes B Class, it was recovered in the Carlisle road area of Leyton. The teenager was hit by the car around 18:30 GMT and was then stabbed several times by three attackers as he laid unconscious in the road. The car was found a few hundred metres away and has remained at the site for forensic examination.

Det Ch Insp Chris Soole said the community  “…are as disgusted as we are regarding this crime, this tragic, cowardly crime as, quite rightly, a community up in arms about the death of a 14-year-old boy should be.”

Jaden had moved to London with his mum for a new start. In the days after Jaden’s death pictures emerged on social media showing him posing with money and claims were made that he was involved in drug dealing. His family strongly deny these reports and said he had nothing to do with gangs. Jaden was excluded from school for social media posts.

Mr Soole said: “A lot of people, especially in the age of social media, are very quick to make a judgment on a person’s character, often with third party information.

“They make these judgements not really knowing Jaden or indeed his familial or social circles.”
