Last year, HMV was at a huge risk of losing a lot of their stores around the UK, but now it’s said that HMV will be closing 27 stores around the UK! The Canadian firm Sunrise Records were the ones that bought HMV, they beat the likes of Sports Direct to the stores! The Chief Executive Doug Putman said, “delighted to acquire the most iconic music and entertainment business in the UK.” The firm has said it’ll be buying 100 stores out of administration, meaning it’ll secure 1,487 jobs, however since 27 stores will close, it’ll mean 455 redundancies! HMV will be staying in certain parts of the UK, but only time will tell if they decide to get rid of every single one across the UK! Could this be the end of HMV? We could be seeing some stores return over the next couple of years, but for now this is the end of some of the stores in the UK! The list of stores that are planning to close are:
