EE and Virgin Media have been fined for overcharging their customers! EE are one of the best phone providers in the UK and has over 500 stores in the UK, and they have been charged due to overcharging customers to cancel their phone contract! When I wanted to leave my contract, this cost me over £300! It’s said that over 400,000 EE customers that ended their contract early, were over billed! Virgin media however, almost had 82,000 customers overcharged! The director of investigation and enforcement at Ofcom stated that “EE and Virgin Media broke our rules by overcharging people who ended their contracts early. Those people were left out pocket and the charges amounted to millions of pounds.”. All and all, EE will still be one of the best phone providers, but they will have to lower their phone contract bills, if they are wanting to keep that! Virgin Media had to pay £7 million for this incident, with an extra £25,000. As for EE they apologised to their customers for this and got fined £6.3 million! Ofcom has said that the behaviour of both companies made many customers less likely to make the switch from one provider to there’s!
