Covid-19 was known as one of the hardest viruses to get rid of and the easiest to get in contact with as Covid-19 was highly infectious and highly known as a pandemic. The virus was slightly off the radar recently as the UK went into Living with Covid-19, however nowadays, the infection has started to rise once again!
The UK has seen an increase in Covid-19 cases and the data suggests that over 1.7 million people were estimated to have Covid-19 this week! Ending 18th June.
This means that around 1 in 35 people have Covid-19, which is a massive 23% increase from the week before hand.
Experts are still suggesting that the reason Covid-19 is having a massive increase is due to the sub variants of Omicron. BA.4 and BA.5 have been known said to have made up at least half of the new Covid-19 infections in the UK, says the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
“I don’t wear a face covering, but if there were circumstances where I felt it was a really closed environment, with very high crowding and very intense social interaction, then those are the situations where I might think ‘should I or shouldn’t I? And I think people have got to learn to frame those risks for themselves.” said Prof Sir Jonathan Van-Tam!
As infections continue to rise, this means that the UK will have more than enough cases coming as more continue to happen! More than 5,000 cases were reported the last few days, which puts more people at risk than ever as cases continue to risk all across the UK.
