If you are ever unlucky enough to be arrested in Japan you may as well plead guilty as you will be interrogated for up to 53 days without charge and even if found innocent in all likely hood be rearrested on a very similar charge (no double Jeopardy here). The wife of ex Nissan president Carlos Ghosn can attest to the rough justice system having been brought in for questioning on what she alleges was vindictive grounds given her husband refuses to plead guilty.
