A body has been found in the search for Liam Smith who has been missing since mid November.

POLICE SCOTLAND

The 16-year-old from Aberdeen was reported missing from the Queen’s Road area of Aberdeen on November 18, after not been seen since Saturday November 17. He was captured on CCTV entering Union Square later that afternoon and boarded a 202 Stagecoach bus for Deeside at 1.11pm. Liam left his house without his phone and was known to have bought Lucozade, Jaffa Cakes and Dairy Milk at Sainsbury’s before he left Aberdeen.

Police confirmed that the body of a man had been found in a remote woodland south of Banchory, Aberdeenshire. A member of the pubic discovered the body on March 22nd at 15:00.

Formal identification is still to be taken place but Mr Smith’s family has been informed. There were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances around the death.

The search for Liam was scaled back last month after no signs of him for over three months. However, many took to social media to try and spread the word that he is missing. Many expressed their feeling of the police not doing enough.

A police statement said: “Inquiries are ongoing and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“No further information will be released until formal identification has taken place.”
