Leading general medical journal The Lancet has reported that for this first time ever a baby has been born to a woman who received a Womb Transplant from a deceased donor. Although 11 babies have been born to mothers who have had transplants previously each of these had been from living donors. The mother who had been born with the rare condition Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH) had the operation in Sao Palo Brazil and obviously this has caused much excitement in the medical community as it gives a wider potential donor population.
