A 16-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in Coventry.

Jaydon Washington James was found on Deedmore Road, Wood End at around 23:40 GMT on Saturday (24th November), he died not long after arriving at hospital. It is said that the reason of stabbing was due to where he lived.

Police say Jaydon was attacked while with friends, his friends are also seriously injured and remain in hospital. A murder investigation has been launched and the West Midlands Police said officers were “following a number of active lines of inquiry”.

Jaydon’s family said they were “deeply saddened” by what has happened and would like anyone with any information to come forward.

Forensic officers have been checking bins, drains and vehicles that are on Deedmore Road. Searches have also been carried out in the grounds of St Patricks Catholic Church, which is nearby.

Flowers have been placed by the wall of the church to pay tribute to Jaydon.

Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from the force’s homicide unit, said: “We have officers working around the clock to find those responsible for this horrific and deeply tragic attack.

“Jaydon had only just turned 16 with his whole life ahead of him. Words cannot describe the anguish that his family are going through, and we will leave no stone unturned in the hunt for his killer.

“We have several lines of enquiry, but I would still urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

The road remains blocked by police as they continue to search.
