Microsoft is opening its first European store on Oxford street in London which will have a McLaren Senna car customised as an Xbox driving simulator, a gaming lounge and a community education centre where children can learn to code.

Microsoft’s store showcases the company’s laptops, PCs, Xbox gaming systems and new technology such as headsets. They will offer help services and software products like Office.

Ther new store is creating 150 jobs and will be the brand’s commitment to the UK.

Microsoft’s UK boss, Cindy Rose, said: “We have certainly not been put off by Brexit. We continue to invest a significant amount in this market.”

“We have concerns about Brexit, which we have discussed with government, mostly around bringing in talent to the country from wherever it exists and about making sure data can continue to flow frictionlessly, which is important to the cloud [data services industry] … We think whatever the political landscape brings, we are confident the UK will continue to thrive and prosper.”

The London store will appeal to young people and offer stops to take selfies behind digital backdrops such as Big Ben. It will also offer spaces including large conference rooms aimed at businesses where they can use microsoft products.

“We are honoured to open the London flagship, Microsoft’s newest front door, in the vibrant Oxford Circus,” said David Porter, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Store.

“It will provide free access to resources and tools for every customer, from Fortune 500 enterprise companies to small businesses to educational institutions to consumers.

“We look forward to providing our UK and European customers, and anyone who visits London, a new way to experience the best of Microsoft from demo to purchase, and with ongoing tech support, trainings and workshops.

“We have some special surprises in store for our London customers and look forward to many years ahead building relationships,”
