This year the Kentucky Derby looks like a being wide-open race after ante-post favourite Omaha Beach was withdrawn due to breathing issues. He is suffering from an entrapped epiglottis and this will need minor surgery. He has won his last three starts and was expected to try to complete the Triple Crown. This is now out of the question but he could be back in time to take part in the other two legs, the Preakness and the Belmont Park Stakes.
This will be the 145th Running of the race and the betting is wide open with 3 horses pretty much joint favourites; these being Game Winner, Improbable & Roadster all around 5-1. Eighteen horses are set to go to post for tomorrow’s race, and this could be more open than last years, which Justify won quite comfortably.
