Following on from a surprise season the A’s have made the smart move of tying in general manager David Forst and manager Bob Melvin with long-term contract extensions. With executive vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane holding a stake in the club and thus unlikely to disappear, this means the main body of their senior management team will remain intact at least until 2021. Now it’s down to the more pressing matter of sorting out the roster for 2019.
