The Cheshire Senior Cup is the Counties main men’s senior football competition, being open to both league & non-league clubs based in the locale. Northwich Victoria dominated the tournament initially winning the first six tournaments. Admittedly one of these was by default though when Birkenhead didn’t bother turning up for the replay! They remain the most successful side in the competition with 18 wins out of the 35 finals they have appeared in.

Runcorn also had a notable run of five consecutive wins in the 1980s and were also runners up twice that decade. To date they have never won it since but did make two appearances in the final in the 1990s.
Football League sides have and do compete too, and Crewe Alexandria has lifted the trophy on seven occasions, most recently in 2017. They also hold the record for the biggest win, 9-0 over Chester in 1888. Chester did get a modicum of revenge though beating them 6-1 in the 1931 Final.
