Multi-channel retailer, Missguided, have released a £1 bikini and the public are not pleased about it. The clothing brand announced the return of the black string bargain bikini on Twitter where former Love Island contestant Ellie Brown modelled it.

The £1 bikini is a part of the company celebrating 10 years of empowering women. However, it is currently facing a lot of criticism as people have said they could have been made the bikini more ethically.
Omg PLEASE DO NOT buy the Missguided £1 bikini. I give zero shits about the fact that the brand can’t be making any profit on it, but I do give a shit that by selling it for £1, that’s the value they’re slapping on that item. That item made by garment workers. Their labourers.

You might be paying £1 for a missguided bikini with free delivery but the implication of your purchasing will have consequences for garment workers + the environment. Everyone ends up paying for it along the line.

In response to the criticism, Missguided published a brief media statement on its website explain the price of the bikini: “It cost us more to produce than 1 pound and we’re absorbing the costs so we can offer it at an incredible price as a gift to our customers. There has been no compromise with this bikini – it is sourced to the same high standards as all of our other products.”
