Micellar water is basically cleansing water, it cleanses makeup and the dirt from your skin. Unlike a normal cleanser you do not have to rinse it off. The way it works is that the mild chemical that gets rid of the dirt and makeup clusters into tiny balls called micelles. When you pour the micellar water onto a cotton pad the micelles rearrange themselves to do cleansing. So micellar water only contains water and one or more surfactants.
Micellar water is great for removing stubborn or/and waterproof makeup, you can even use it for a quick cleanse to freshen up your skin.
It was in 2013 when micellar water was made available in the UK, this marked the introduction of Bioderma’s Sensibio H20 Micellar water into British pharmacy John Bell & Croydon. After it was introduced to the UK, micellar water because a big thing and every brand started to make their own versions.
