The heatwave is here and it means our makeup could be melting off our faces or just not looking its best. It can get to the point where you cannot be bothered with makeup and want to give up all together.
We have some tips for you so you can still wear makeup in the hot weather and still look your best.
Prep the skin
Before even thinking about placing makeup on you skin, clean it. Cleanse your skin to get rid of dirt and oils so you are not layering makeup on top. After make sure you apply an oil free SPF and a light moisturiser.
Less is more
Full coverage may be your style but for summer it is best to go as less as you can. A lightweight breathable foundation is what you need to go for as it will not clog up your pores as much. This is the same for concealer and every other liquid or cream products. Do not cake your face up as it will just make your pores clogged making you get even warmer resulting in makeup melting off.
Waterproof
You do not want to end up with smudged mascara or eyebrows to opt for a waterproof version as they will stay in place in the hottest of heat.
Do not touch the highlighter
It may be nice to apply the best highlighter so you can capture the sunlight but wearing too much highlighter means you may look like a disco ball by the middle of the day so if you are going to apply it do not go too heavy.
Mattifying face mists
On a hot day you will most likely get shiny no matter what your skin type is. Using a mattifying face mist will help to keep your makeup shine free but also calm redness and a hot face.
Try blotting paper
Blotting paper is a tissue with absorbs excess oils from the skin and makes you look more matte. They are perfect for if you do not have time to top up on makeup but need to get the excess oil from your face.
