Mango have released a Gala collection for women 2019

The Met Gala has been and gone but the fashion inspiration is still there. The red carpet celebrities teamed up with well known designers to create high standard pieces which fitted in with the theme.

This year Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea arrived on the red carpet in a ombre tiered gown but it took a minute for people to discover which fashion label she teamed up with. Sofia is a fashion consultant and designer who is married to Alexandre de Betak who is also a fashion designer.

Sofia was actually wearing a high street brand and the dress actually reveals the brand – if you have not guessed already, it is Mango.

Ainhoa San Martin, Mango’s PR director, told GLAMOURof the ‘ironic’ play on the brand’s name.

“We’re exaggerating the qualities of the mango, with the dégradé of the colours and the trapeze shape with different layers.”

“The handbag that she’s wearing is in the shape of a mango. She has really big earrings in the shape of fruit. Everything together ties back to the ‘camp’ concept.”

Sofía Sánchez de Betak at the red carpet of the #MetGala wearing a made-to-order #Mango look. The strapless dress has been created in a custom-printed taffeta that evokes the colours of a mango, the fruit, following the Camp concept of this year’s gala, a playful, ironic and extravagant take on fashion. Dazzling accesories complete the look. Two earrings are combined in the same ear: the earcuff imitates leaves through inlaid green-lawn-coloured crystals, while a cascade earring replicates a mango. The leather handbag is covered by hundreds of micro-crystals taking the tonalities of the fruit, with a leaf-like top. To finish the look, @chufy is wearing a pair of lounge heels made in orange satin and with a fine back heel. #MangoxMetGala

Mango x Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea meant two months of meetings and fitting at the Mango headquarters in Barcelona before the big event.

Now Mango have released a ‘Gala Collection with pieces inspired by Sofia’s look – red carpet and after party look. The items include touches of ombre and fringe dresses – all the items have been made to look more low-key compared to the real Gala looks.
