Circular beauty is the new beauty trend – here is what it is.

Circular beauty is the new beauty trend – here is what it is.

Circular beauty is a planet-friendly beauty trend, it is using food waste to make a new eco-conscious beauty product.

It is estimated that there is 18 million tonnes of food waste which end up in the UK landfill each year! That is around £23 billion. This is impacting the climate change as it contributes 8% to the total greenhouse gas emissions. A greenhouse gas is around 84 times stronger than carbon dioxide and emissions can be created in the production, packaging, storage, transportation and sales of food.

Circular beauty is here to change the game and are taking unwanted food and making it into beauty products we love. Here are some of the brands and products which are part of circular beauty.

ANYTHING IN PINK IS A LINK WHICH WILL TAKE YOU TO THE BRAND OR PRODUCT.

UpCircle uses leftover coffee beans from cafes around London to make soaps, face masks, serums and exfoliators. Cofounder Anna Brightman points out that they “create 500,000 tonnes of coffee waste each year in the UK alone.”

BEAUTY KITCHEN

Beauty Kitchen encourages their customers to reuse their bottles which the company can refill with their products. Last year, the Beauty Kitchen created a ‘Berry British Sustainable Beauty Oil’ using oils from the waste made by juicing.

THE BODY SHOP

The Body Shop are also jumping on the planet friendly life when they launched two skincare product made from carrots which do not make it to sale due to how they look. The two skincare products are the Carrot Wash Energising Face Cleanser and their Carrot Cream Nature Rich Face Moisturiser.

We are sure there will be more brands joining in on Circular beauty soon…
