Dermaplaning is actually a very low-key but high profile beauty treatment. Itr involves using a single blade to remove the hair and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin – in short term, shaving.
Dermaplaning targets the ‘peach fuzz’ (the invisible, baby hairs that commonly crop up on cheeks and around the hairline). This hair is known as vellus hair and is different to the dark, thick terminal hair which grows on our heads and under arms. Vellus hair does not grow back stubbly.
People have been taking to Instagram to show their before and after photos. Using the hashtag #dermaplaning, people are showing off their incredible results, displaying how the treatment has helped treat acne, rosacea and dry skin.
The razor blade is used at a 45 degree angle and gently scrapes the surface of the skin. After this treatment skin will feel super smooth to touch. Dermaplaning is a super exfoliating treatment due to dead skin cells being removed from the surface of the skin when the razor blade is run over.
A buildup of dead skin and microscopic hairs can make your complexion appear dull, flaky, and can even cause breakouts due to clogged pores and hair follicles.
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types as it can help with sun damage, fine lines, dry skin and dull skin. After the treatment SPF will have to be used to protect the skin as you have just had a deep exfoliation. It is also very good for makeup application, Peach fuzz on the face is removed in the treatment therefore when you apply makeup it goes on smoothly as well as your skin care working better as the product is not being blocked by dead skin cells. Results of dermaplaning last four weeks so your glow will last all month. The procedure only lasts around 30 minutes and there is no recovery time!
