The King of the Super Lightweight Division!

The King of the Super Lightweight Division!

There are many great fighters in this division, Alex Saucedo, Terry Flanagan and Courtney Jackson, however all these fighters I’ve named have something in common with each other… they have all been defeated by the fighter that Eddie Hearn himself said to be the king of this division! Eddie Hearn has so much faith in this fighter and believes he has what it takes to be the best fighter in the world… well in this division! He currently holds the WBO World Super Lightweight Title and has only been fighting for 8 years and could be the best fighter already! Maurice Hooker is the name of this incredible fighter. He has been named the best in his division! Eddie Hearn is normally good at spotting talent when he sees it and right now, he is right!

Brief History of Maurice Hooker!

Maurice Hooker was born on the 7th August 1989 in Dallas, Texas, USA. He started his professional boxing career on the 29th April 2011 when he was fighting a man by the name of Tyrone Chatman. At the time, Tyrone Chatman had already been in 8 fights and won 7, lost 1, however this didn’t end well for Maurice Hooker, since he drew his first ever fight! Move a few years on and we can see massive improvement from this one fighter! Move to the end of 2013, he has managed to get 12 wins with 9 via KO. He has improved immensely! Currently he has won 25 bouts with 17 coming by way of KO and drew 3 bouts. Hooker has beaten fighters everyone thought was undefeatable! He is one of the best boxing prospects at the age of 29! He could be the Anthony Joshua of the Lightweight division! What’s next for this champion? Well, he has a fight coming up against Mikkel LesPierre on the 9th March 2019. This could be his 26th win!
