This breed is a very large breed, but are known as gentle giants in the dog world as they have a docile and kind nature. They are like many other breeds and are always eager and willing to please.  These dogs are a great choice for a family pet because they are good with children and like nothing more than to play interactive game with them.

They are known for the beautiful thick, dense coats which requires a lot of work to keep them looking good and to avoid their coat getting tangled. They boast about the webbed feet which makes them very powerful swimmer, but due to this dog size, people should know that this dog requires a lot of room so it not an ideal pet to keep in apartments. This is best suited for people with large back gardens and people who spend lots of time at home.

These dogs are well known for their kind and calm nature, but are not advised for the first time owner as these dogs need to be handled and trained by people who are familiar with this type of breed of a very intelligent but large dog.

This breed also has a very unique and must odour about them which many people might not be able to live with. They are also known for dribbling and to slobber a lot which also might be a thing the owner might not be able to cope with. For these dogs to be obedient, the training and education of this breed must start from a young age and puppies just like many breeds need to be socialised from a young age, which mean introducing them to many new situation and people for them to mature to well rounded dogs.

They are also known for being sensitive and being very good with children. They thrive best in a calm home environment. This breed has an average life span of 8 to 10 years when they are care for right and are given the correct diet to suit their age.
