The Maine Coon is a large house cat which has originates from the North Eastern America. They are a very old breed and are one of the most popular breeds in America and now also into the Europe. They are known for being affectionate and loyal, and is your ideal companion or perfect family pet. They are knowns for having semi-long coats and a charming look.
Marine Coon are known for being very gentle cats and good around children, they are extremely smart and are best suited for the home environment, they always like to known what’s going on in the household environment. They enjoy being involved with the household and they learn things extremely quickly. Many of this cat breed even like being taken out for a walk just like dogs.
Unlike other cat breeds the Marine Coon don’t meow it makes a chirping like sound which people would consider sweet, however they have a quiet a range of sounds which includes yowling, this is normally around about meal time when you’ll hear this sounds.
This cat breed remains very kitten like even in its older years which adds more fun for the household. Males tend to act more clown like rather than the females but both are very affectionate by nature and they thrive for contact with humans and hate being left alone for to long at a time. They are suited for households which at least have someone at home most of the day or where there are other pets whether it be another cat or dog, this is so a Maine Coon always has company.
Marine Coon have an average life expectancy between 9 and 15 years and when they are cared for and fed appropriate and good quality diet to suit their ages will determine how long they will live.
When caring for a Maine Coon they need to groomed on a regular basis and that there coat and skin is kept in the best conditions, you also need to make sure that the cats are fed with good quality food which will meet all their nutritional need within there life span. This is extremely important in Kittens and older cats.
You also need to know just like other cat breeds Marine Coon like to take naps throughout the day and due to their past of being farm cats they like to sleep in high and unusual places. They are also known for loving high places so they can look down at the world below and having the ability to look around. They are also known for being good hunters and good ratters.
