This breed is most noticeable for it’s blackish and blue coloured tone and its extremely thick coats. There is two types of Chow with the first being a smooth-coated dog and the other being brought coated. These dogs are very loyal and devoted to their family or owners. When within a family they then to bond with one person in a household more than other and this is someone who takes care of them the most.

Over the course of many years this breed has became a very popular choice in many households across the UK and many other places in the world, this is all due to their unusual looks and very loyal natures. But take into account this breed is not advice for a first time owner as they need to be handled and trained by people who have handled this sort of breed before.

Chow Chow Puppies

As said before this breed is known for its loyalty but is can also be aloof and very independent by nature, most of the time they are described as being more cat like than dog. This breed is extremely intelligent and can be strong-willed when the mood takes them too. So this means training and socialisation must start from a very early age for them to become a well-rounded and very obedient character.

This breed is instinctively wary and suspicious of strangers and people they don’t know which is where you’ll see a more protective side of this beautiful breed as they will want to protect their family and their property which also makes them quick to alert the household their is a stranger about. They can be very good around children and this is more the case when they have grown up with children otherwise it might not go so well.

This breed also loves to chase thing but will not chase things that has been thrown for them by an owner and these dogs are medium sized breed and love and need plenty exercise.

The Chow Chow have the average life span of 9 to 15 years when they are cared for the right way and have a good health balanced diet that relates to their age.
