This cat breed was first created in the 1990 by crossing a Jungle cat with a domestic cat. This then turned into a domestic cat looking while but have a kind, placid and affectionate nature. They were recognised by the governing council of the Cat Fancy. The name Chausie is latin for Jungle cat.
Like many cat breed this cat is one that likes routine and doesn’t like it being changed as it will cause the, stress and great anxiety. They love to be fed at the same time everyday and don’t like the movement of furniture around the house. By nature this breed is generally laid back, but they do have an energetic side and like to be kept busy when they are not sleeping. Just like many pets they thrive for human company and don’t like being left alone for long periods of time. Even with them being extremely active they are best suited for families with one person at home.
They are known for their good nature and affection side as they love interacting with their owner and also enjoy the time to play games with them such as fetch which this breed is very skilled at. They can form very strong bonds with their owner to a point you can put them on a harness on them and take them out for a walk on a lead very much like you can do with dogs. This cat breed is extremely intelligent and will remain playful throughout their lifetime making them a joy to share a house with.
This breed of cat has an average life expectancy of 12 to 14 years when they are looked after right and are given the appropriate diet that will suit their ages. This breed is also known for having good health and does not appear to suffer from any hereditary and congenital disorders.
