@Mrdianalynn Actually, in France, this era was called La Belle Epoch, and the women in Gigi’s family were what was called ‘courtesans’… like Nicole Kidman’s character in the movie Moulin Rouge. They were usually popular stage performers who were ‘taken care of’ by wealthy patrons. Back then, unless one were born into a rich or aristocratic family, a woman had few opportunities open to her to achieve financial independence. This was one of the ‘least degrading’ ways to do that.

Isn’t it weird that at the end of this trailer, when they are naming the lead actors, the TITLE CHARACTER’S name (Leslie Caron) is not mentioned once? Did I miss it or something?
Leslie Caron was so beautiful and Louis Jourdan was gorgeous.
