Shar Pei

The Shar Pei is one of the most recognised breed in the world due it wrinkles around their face and the black/ blue tongues. These Chinese Shar Pei boast about being one of the most ancient breeds on the planet and the original reason to why these dog were bred was to herd, guard and hunt throughout native China and they were often used as fighting dogs as well.

The version of the dog we see today has less wrinkles and taller in leg than the when the original dog was first bred in China in the seventies, they are considered one of the rarest breeds in the world. But due to selective breeding, this breed has become a popular choice with many people not only in the UK but in other regions of the world. The breeder of this dog have also mange to successfully breed out many health issues that the this breed once had.

Black Shar Pei

This breed is known for being very loyal and extremely affection dog by nature even when they have the stuck affection of a frown.  Keep in mind they are not the best for a first time owner because they need the correct training and handling and people who are familiar with this type of dog.

These dogs are also known for being independent and reserved, but once they form a strong bond with their owner of family the become a valued house member of the household. These dogs are big fan of staying indoors where it is cozy and warm because they dislike the cold.

These dogs can be very shy around new people or meeting someone for the first time, but they will no display signs of aggression but instead would much rather stay out of the strangers way rather than approach them.  It is advised that the puppy is well socialised from a young age and trained as well this will teach the dog who is the alpha in the household. This is because they are much more happier and more obedient when they known their place in the pack. Keep in mind that this breed is also a very messy eater and drinker.

The average life span of this breed is between 9 to 15 years when given the right food and good quality diet to suit their age and also regular check up to the vets when need (This goes for every breed of dog and cat)
