
Kennel Club UK Toy Dog Breeds
The Kennel Club UK currently (2019) recognises 221 breeds of dog, wand of these 24 ate Toy dog breeds or members of the Toy Group however you want to look at it. This is three more than the American Kennel Club and although there is some overlap the differences are noticeable.
Toy breeds are a small companion or lap dogs. Many Toy breeds have been bred for the purpose, although some have been placed into this category simply due to their size. They generally have a friendly demeanour and love attention. They don’t need too much exercise but some can be fussy eaters.

All dog breeds have been consigned to one of seven groups, according to factors such as size, shape, function and temperament. The seven dog groups recognised by the Kennel Club are; Toy, Utility, Gundog, Working, Pastoral, Terrier and Hound.
