The Colorado Avalanche have reached the 2022 Stanley Cup Final with an emphatic 4-0 series win over the Edmonton Oilers. Game Four was as close as it got with the Oilers taking it to OT before losing 6-5. The Oilers looked like avoiding the sweep in the second period which they dominated, but despite taking a 3-1 lead into the third, they ended up having to rely on a late goal to take the game into OT.
The winning goal came 1.19 into OT when Finnish International Artturi Lehkonen knocked in a rebound. They will now face the winners of the Eastern Conference Final, in which the NY Rangers currently lead two times defending champions Tampa 2-1.

Crazy Fact
We all love a bit of trivia but this one will take some beating. Artturi Lehkonen who booked the Avalanche’s place in the final is no stranger to crucial goals. He also scored the winning goal in OT last season when the Montreal Canadians progressed to the final! It did take him a little longer in 2021 though with the winner coming in 1.39 in.
He will be hoping for a better result this time as the Canadians weres soundly beaten 4-1 by his potential opponents the Tampa bay Lightning.
Final Prediction
We are sticking with our preseason tip that the Avalanche will lift the trophy, however, their growing injury list is a concern!
