Somehow the Carolina Hurricanes are into round two of the playoffs, thanks to some tenacious play which saw snatch game seven in a double OT thriller, 4-3 after trailing early in the game 2-0 and 3-1. They were also 2-0 and 3-2 down in the series at various stages. Game seven was the third-longest in NHL history and carried on the Hurricanes excellent record in game seven’s – they are now 5-0 since 2009.
Last season’s Stanly Cup winners Washington, won the division and beat Carolina in all four of their regular-season meetings. Carolina, on the other hand, scraped in as a Wild Card and it is arguable if this is a bigger shock than Columbus sweeping Tampa. Whatever, they look the real deal and we think they will get past Ther Islanders in the next round.
