It’s not actually in the Crown Bar, it’s a replica in a studio in London

The 1st great film I saw in 1948, when I was 8yrs old. Got it on DVD. If you never saw
“Outcast of the Islands” by Carol Reed- it is a must.

Go to the Crown Bar in Belfast and you will see that the enhanced photo on the wall [if it’s still there] is a negative,i.e. a reverse image of the actual bar as it was during the time of the movie-making.A rare chance to be in a pub with a mirror image of itself on display, if I’m not mistaken-might be wrong?

This film is the epitome of that saying ‘they don’t make them like that anymore’, just unbeliveably good cinema. Very few films come anywhere near to the humanity and artistic merit of this one.
Makes The Third Man, a brilliant film of course, seem like a potboiler. If it wasn’t for the memorable zither music, everybody would be talking about the Odd Man Out instead.

amazing film. See it on the big screen if you are fortunate enough to be able to. do so. Cinematrography is incredible, as is Mason.

The film took place in and was mostly filmed in Belfast, not London. However, it is a masterpiece.

One of the films that English people must be proud of.Great masterpiece. The wandering of the hero around the streets of London is an existationalist hymn. The scene with the picturew reminds me of the masterpiece”doctor Kaligari”,and the actors are amazing. This film drives you to the most dramatic journey a celluloid hero ever had,and no one will forget it.ENCHANTED
