LAWRENCE OF ARABIA(1962) Original Theatrical Trailer

Peter O’Toole and Omar Sharif star in this multi-Oscar winning production based on the exploits of legendary British soldier TE Lawrence. Lawrence helps unite rival Arab tribes and then organizes them into a rebellion against the Turks during World War One. Definitely one of the greatest epic movies of all time. Alec Guiness, Jack Hawkins, Anthony Quinn, Jose Ferrer and Claude Rains also costar.

Theatrical trailers, before about the mid ’80s, are really interesting to me. They’re not so much a hurried glimpse of what the film may be- as most mainstream film trailers are today- but visual film synopseses.
What an exceptional film. Not just because it’s epic in scale, but because of the depth of its characters, especially, of course, Peter O’Toole.

Lawrence will only be loved in West. His good for Rule – Divide the middle east. Whats the chances if an Arab man divides USA into 40 countries by being a hero!!

@Lahoreumar I am generally well read in history, and am well aware that the Ottoman Empire was in severe decline, I would say since Napoleonic times, however I fail to see where Lean or for that matter Lawrence claim that it was not, as your point seems to infer.

@drunkest100 No, hidden agenda. Please read carefully my comments to @fromwilliams.I have justified my viewpoint in ample measure. Besides, you can also read the comments of @fromwilliams.Would you say that williams also has a hidden agenda.I have tried to remain quite honest about the excellent screenplay and direction of David Lean.If you are British, then I urge you to read hsitory of WWI and you will come to know by yourself that T.E. Lawrance led the native Arabs against a crumbling Empire.

@drunkest100 , I have seen this movie with a keen eye and have noticed that the myth of T.E. Lawrance is grossly over blown. Mind you I am also a keen student of world history !!!!!!

@Lahoreumar Have you even seen the film? Lean deals with the myth of Lawrence in the opening lines, and the theme is revisited throughout.
