1930s Winners

Cimarron Oscar Winner 1931 Land Run Clip

The Classic Land Rush Scene

Quick Plot

Based on the lives of a newspaper editor who joins in the Oklahoma land rush by choosing to settle in a boom town with his wife at the end of the nineteenth century. Eventually he leaves his wife to pursue his need for adventure in the the then wild west.

Not the most memorable of Oscar winners although still worth watching if only to see how the social views of mid depression America made it to the silver screen.  Although deemed a success it never managed to recoup its $1.5 million investment.

What a sight, hundreds, if not thousands of extras and not a single CGI ‘person’ in sight, this is when films were films and everything you saw was real and not computer generated.
