Various sources claim that\u00a0Amazon is wanting to stream games to your home using cloud\u00a0<\/strong>technology.<\/b><\/p>\n

No, not the kind of streaming where you watch somebody play games over the internet, (you must have forgotten that Amazon already owns Twitch), but the kind where you can play games without waiting for a download or buying a disc, because they\u2019re actually running on powerful servers that live far away from your home.<\/p>\n

The Information,<\/em>\u00a0(the media outlet), claims that two independent sources have said Amazon is developing a cloud gaming service which could launch as soon as 2020, and The Verge<\/em> was also able to find some seeming corroboration simply by checking out Amazon\u2019s job listing page where Amazon is currently hiring at least two engineers in Seattle and California specifically to work on \u201cCloud Games.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third job posting for a \u201cLead Cross Platform Game Engineer\u201d has this in the job description: \u201cThis is a rare opportunity to take a technical leadership role to shape the foundation of an unannounced AAA games business.\u201d<\/p>\n

And in case you needed more convincing, a fourth listing is looking for an AI engineer who\u2019ll work with cloud experts to help develop \u201ca never before seen kind of game.\u201d<\/p>\n

If<\/strong> the report is true, we may soon have a huge battle between internet giants for the future of gaming; along with Sony, which has already been streaming games with its PlayStation Now service for years, EA is trying to build one too, there\u2019s Nvidia\u2019s GeForce Now, and even Nintendo is trying to stream games to the Switch in Japan.<\/p>\n

There’s so much brilliant technology already available to the public, all that is needed is one of these powerhouse companies to take the final step into the world of cloud gaming, and it should be interesting to see who does it first, and who does it better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
