Long time Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has announced his retirement following an unsuccessful attempt to rehab from injury. Initially drafted by The Toronto Maple Leafe back in 2005 he was traded to Boston and became their main starter in the 2009-10 season.<\/p>\n

He was part of their 2011 Stanly Cup winning team and also reached the finals with them in 2013 & 2019. Rask also played internationally for his native Finland and again has success winning a Bronze medal at the World Junior Championships<\/a> in 2006. He added another Bronze in the 2014 Winter Olympics. He was part of the NHL All-Star team in 2013-14 and also collected the Vezina Trophy that year.<\/p>\n

Overall in 15 seasons, he played 564 times<\/a> for the Bruins and was on the winning side in 308 of these. He will be missed both by Bruins fans and neutrals – probably not as much by fans of teams in the Eastern Conference though.<\/p>\n
