The Tampa Bay Lightning went into this series as strong favourites having won the President’s Trophy and having beaten Columbus in all their regular-season meetings. However, this is the magic of the playoffs and in last nights game, the Blue Jackets made history twice. Not only did the Blue Jackets record their first-ever playoff series win but they also became the first team ever to sweep the season’s Presidents Trophy winners!
The Final Scores were:
10th April Columbus Blue Jackets 4–3 Tampa Bay Lightning
12th April Columbus Blue Jackets 5–1 Tampa Bay Lightning
14th April Tampa Bay Lightning 1–3 Columbus Blue Jackets
16th April Tampa Bay Lightning 3–7 Columbus Blue Jackets
So Columbus can hang their skates up for a few days now while they wait to see who they will face in their first-ever, second-round appearance – either Toronto or Boston.
