Islanders Get First Playoff Sweep Since 1983
The New York Islanders, after a tough game one have eased into round two of the Eastern Conference playoffs sweeping Pittsburgh with a 3- 1 win in their final game. Anyone who watched that game one will be surprised at this result, as they were a tad lucky to get out of dodge with the win. However, take nothing away from New York, they have battled well and whoever they meet in Round Two can expect a game. The series results were:
10th April Pittsburgh Penguins 3–4 New York Islanders in OT
12th April Pittsburgh Penguins 1–3 New York Islanders
14th April New York Islanders 4–1 Pittsburgh Penguins
16th April New York Islanders 3–1 Pittsburgh Penguins
This is sweet revenge for the Islanders, who lost 4-2 to Pittsburgh in their last playoff meeting in 2013. This was also their first sweep since beating the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 back in 1983; an era in which they dominated.

The Islanders dominated the early 1980s but have been less successful of late.
