Walmart heir Rob Walton looks like he is in the mood to diversify his holdings thanks to the planned takeover of the Denver Broncos. Although it’s not finalised it looks likely that the NFL will approve his record bid of <\/span>$4.65bn (\u00a33.71bn) for the franchise.<\/p>\n

This will set a record if successful, eclipsing the $3.2bn that the Brooklyn Nets changed hands for in 2019. This is a considerable increase on the 2018 Carolina Panthers sale. They change hands for $2.28bn back in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

Obviously, it’s not just inflation that accounts for the difference as the Broncos are a storied franchise with three Super Bowls to their name. They also hope to add a fourth in the near future with the Russell Wilson trade<\/a>. This was one of the biggest in NFL history but could be the last piece they were needing. They also drafted well<\/a> in our opinion anyway and should challenge in the loaded AFC West this year.<\/p>\n

The purchase still needs approval from the NFL’s finance committee and league ownership. However, given there are no known skeletons in the Walton family closet this should be a formality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
