In the latest twist in what is probably the largest corruption case in world history, an investigation is now underway into the untimely death of Columbian whistleblower Jorge Enrique Pizano. His passing was originally attributed to\u00a0a heart attack, however, His son has now died from Cyanide poisoning after drinking from a bottle at his fathers home. Given that Cardiac Arrest is one of the possible symptoms of this toxin it increases the possibility of this being an assassination. It also throws the competence and or integrity of the original forensic examiners into question.<\/p>\n
This has come to light\u00a0as Mr Pizano’s son who had flown in from Spain to attend the funeral fell ill and subsequently died after drinking\u00a0from a bottle of flavoured water which was on his father’s desk. He fell ill almost instantly and was diagnosed as suffering from\u00a0Cyanide poisoning by Doctors.<\/p>\n
Although no public announcement has been made, some form of nefarious action has occurred here – you don’t have a bottle of deadly poisonous water on your desk for decoration, and Mr Pizano was one of the many people who helped discover the massive corruption scandal instigated by Brazils Odebrecht, which infested Latin America.<\/p>\n
Working as an auditor on the\u00a0Ruta del Sol (Sun Route) project he began flagging up suspicious payments made by Odebrecht in 2013 and in 2015 fearing for his safety reported\u00a0his suspicions to the now\u00a0Colombian attorney-general\u00a0N\u00e9stor Humberto Mart\u00ednez. This was not acted on and a posthumous recording of the discussions has been released by Columbian newscaster\u00a0Noticias Uno which has led to call for Mr\u00a0Mart\u00ednez to resign. Mr\u00a0Mart\u00ednez in his defence has stated that at the time it was not clear that they were bribes despite him being the legal advisor of Corficolombiana, a partner of Odebrecht in Colombia – no conflict of interests there then!<\/p>\n
A double tragedy and overall a scandal which seems to get murkier by the day.<\/p>\n
