Scotland have recorded the highest level of Flu deaths in the past 20 years. This is according to the figures shown to the public.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

National records of Scotland have stated that there were 121 deaths due to the Flu last week. This was up from the previous week, which their was 91 deaths.<\/p>\n

There has also been an increase in deaths where Covid was a cause.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The total last week was 101, with 84 deaths the previous week.<\/p>\n

Pete Whitehouse, director of statistical services at NRS, said: “Deaths involving influenza have risen in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“There were 121 deaths where influenza was mentioned on the death certificate, up from 91 in the previous week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“This is the highest weekly number of flu deaths registered in over 20 years.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Alongside this, the head of intelligence at NHS Grampian, Jillian Evans told the BBC this.<\/p>\n

“The highest number of deaths in over 20 years – a lot of that will be because we’ve seen so much flu,” she said. “It’s a small percentage but a very high number of people who were affected with flu.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“It’s on the back of an extraordinary surge of flu incidents in the December period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Thankfully incidents of flu have come down. It’s now at moderate levels in Scotland which is very welcome. But we are seeing the effect of that surge translate now into deaths.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Every one of those could have been considered to be an avoidable death.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Deaths are slowly creeping up and something has to be done about it.<\/p>\n
